XXY positioning stage is a typical structure. The operation of stage is mainly achieved through screw guide and slide devices. Between a stage and a base, there are several sets of X-axis and Y-axis screw guide devices. In operation of a single set or synchronized multi-set movement by controlling X-axis and Y-axis screw guide devices, the stage can be shifted or turned for calibration and adjustment to achieve processing precision.
As the tolerance accumulates, the stage at completion of positioning may completely lose the rigid steady positioning status. For positioning stage of tri-axis configuration, it cannot withstand the side force because a guide transmission axle has higher freedom of connectivity when the stage stops and the load bearing capacity is thus lower. For another type of traditional positioning stage of four-axis configuration, although it has better side-force load bearing capacity than the tri-axis type, it still has the drawback in high manufacturing cost and the accumulating tolerance, so it cannot achieve rigid steady support. To summarize the above problems, when the stage is subject to a certain force, it tends to shift and severely affect the precision and quality for finished product. This is not up to the expectation of high precision by the industry. It calls for breakthrough to solve the problem.
