How to Use and Maintain The Planetary Reducer During The Running-in Period

- Jan 26, 2021-

Normally there is a running-in period of about 200 hours (the oil must be changed if the time of exceed) after planetary reducer begin to work, which is determined by the technical characteristics of the initial stage of the use. The running-in period is an important link to ensure the normal operation of the planetary reducer, reduce the failure rate, and extend its service life. Gigager engineer now will tell you how to use and maintain the planetary reducer during the running-in period.

1. Pay attention to the operating load during the running-in period. The operating load during the running-in period should generally not exceed 85% of the rated operating load to avoid the occurrence of overheating caused by the long-term continuous operation of the planetary reducer.

2. Reasonably select lubricating oil, especially geared motors with input power greater than 11KW must be filled with load gear oil. Frequently check the lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, coolant, oil level and quality, and check the sealing of the whole machine. If excessive oil shortage is found during the inspection, user should find out why. At the same time, the lubrication of each lubrication point should be strengthened. It is recommended to add grease to the lubrication point every week during the running-in period (except for special requirements).

3. Keeps the planetary reducer clean, and adjusts and tightens loose parts in time to prevent the loose parts from aggravating the wear of the parts or causing the parts to be lost.

4. At the end of the running-in period of the planetary reducer, the machine needs mandatory maintenance, inspection and adjustment, and the oil should be replaced.
